Introduction

Construction of our building was completed in 1922 and City Road Baptist Church formally opened its doors on 23 April 1923.

We are from different backgrounds and experiences, united in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We have discovered that He is real – not just a real historical figure in the past but a living personal God, and He is the answer to our deepest needs and the fulfilment of our strongest longings.  We pray that as we move forward in our church we can please God and make a difference reaching out to win souls for the Lord Jesus

We are all ages and stages, shapes and sizes. We come together on Sundays to worship God, to enjoy friendship with one another and to be inspired and challenged by preaching which releases the energy of the text of the Bible so it can transform our lives.  We want to give a warm welcome to everyone, especially to those who are just beginning their Christian journey or are new to the area.  Come and visit us one Sunday.  We are big enough for you to stay anonymous if you prefer, but if you want to connect personally you will find plenty of ways to do so.

We have a single Morning Service each week at 11.00 am, which is also livestreamed on YouTube for those unable to join in person.  Family service takes place the first Sunday of each month and the second and fourth services of each month also include the Lord’s Supper (also known as Holy Communion).  Children stay for the opening part of the Morning Service and then leave to attend Sunday School.  For more information please email office@crbc-birmingham.org.uk

We join together each Good Friday with our neighbouring places of worship being Christ Church Summerfield, City Road Methodist Church and St Germain’s Church

City Road Baptist Church is one of around 160 churches covered by the Heart of England Baptist Association (HEBA)

SERVING

For those who worship regularly with us, joining a team is a great way to feel part of the community at CRBC.  We believe that volunteering helps us grow in our desire to be more like Jesus, gives an important outlet for our God given talents and enables us to feel a sense of belonging and fulfilment.  Essential to our mission is working together to share the love of Jesus. We recognise that no one person can do everything, rather God’s work is best when we work together, recognise and encourage the God given skills and giftings in each other.

From children’s work to maintenance, catering to Sunday tech, pastoral care to mini bus driving – there’s something for everyone

LIFE EVENTS

Baptism

Baptism involves the total immersion of a person into water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit on their own profession of faith. As Baptists we do not baptise infants but only those who are of an age to make a clear declaration of their own free will. By means of baptism, a person declares their desire to turn from a life without God to one which is lived for God through Jesus Christ. Christian faith is not something that anybody can choose for anyone other than themselves

Dedications

At City Road Baptist Church, we do not baptise infants because we believe that the decision to be a disciple of Jesus is one that can only properly be made at a later stage of spiritual development. However we do welcome children into the community by means of a special service known as a Dedication.

In keeping with the attitude and actions of Jesus, we welcome children and take seriously His invitation, ‘Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me’ (Matthew 18:5).

Funerals

If you need to talk to us about a funeral, please contact us at office@crbc-birmingham.org.uk

We recognise the importance of funerals as a vital act of both personal and corporate grief.

ROOM HIRE

Our Church building is equipped with a hall with adjacent kitchen as well as two other rooms.

From time to time various groups have enjoyed the benefit of hiring our church hall for a variety of community and social functions.

If you are interested or would like to enquire about hiring our available spaces, and to check availability and prices, please call the church office on 0121 429 1159 or email office@crbc-birmingham.org.uk

GIVING

Anyone who would like to make a donation to support the work of CRBC is welcome to do so via bank transfer, cash, cheque or online giving

CRBC’s operations are funded by the generous giving of the individuals who make up our community, in which we gratefully recognise the Lord’s provision for our needs. The Bible tells us, in 2 Corinthians 9:7, on the subject of giving financially to the work of the church, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributes any amount financially, but your decision about whether to give, and how much, is a matter for your prayerful consideration, and in particular we encourage visitors not to feel under any pressure to give.

For more information on any of the methods below, or for any other giving-related queries, please contact our Finance Team.

Direct Transfer

The most efficient way to give is via direct transfer – either a one-off or a monthly standing order.

Cheques and Cash

If you prefer, you can donate by cheque or cash. You can place donations in the collection bag during Morning Service or obtain an envelope from the Usher and give that to the Treasurer.  Alternatively you may wish to send cheques by post (we do not recommend posting cash).

EasyFundraising – generating donations when you shop online

By signing up with EasyFundraising you can generate donations to City Road Baptist Church at no additional cost to you when shopping at a wide range of online retailers, such as John Lewis, M&S, Argos and eBay.  Visit our EasyFundraising page and click ‘Support this cause’ to sign up (you can also make donations here but be aware that they will incur transaction fees).
